sHEDD AQUARIUM RESEARCH
Role: Project Manager.
The Shedd Aquarium wanted to embark on a new master plan that would then lead to its execution. The goal was to increase attendance, enhance visitor experiences, add new exhibits, reimaging the food service and major building maintenance which included recoating the three million gallon beluga and dolphin pool.
To get to this goal we preformed 9 month research phase. The research included an evaluation of the existing building, brainstorming sessions, best practice studies and tours of pier institutions. Visitor survey were taken and we immersed ourselves with the Shedd staff to learn how they did their jobs and how we could make it better.
The research lead to a major renovation of the Oceanarium where we added an encounter pool for guests and a complete rework of the Oceanarium. The food service area was also redesigned and office space was added to the roof of the Oceanarium.
